This is because Gris embraced Cubism several years later than his two contemporaries. While Picasso and Braque's styles were considered revolutionary, Gris garnered more attention for his technically sophisticated approach. Furthermore, an artist's success depended significantly on the patronage they received, and Picasso's eccentric personality greatly benefited his marketing.
